loading a new map to my server

Hi i have a new server and have downloaded a .bsp map. my question is how do i go about uploading this map to my ftp server? i am able to see the custom folder that i am apparently supposed to place it in but the folder wont allow me to drop anything into it. what is the correct way to do this?
