Missing Server Bans

Post by NukaColaBomb »

Hello, on occasion I have now noticed that a permaban I gave out not too long ago was missing from both the banned_user.cfg, and the banned_ip.cfg. I'm not sure what rolled back these bans, but upon testing it out with a moderator, the same issue happened again after a day. I'm not sure why my bans are being rolled back, but any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

Do you have a very large banlist? If not, it may just be that some commands are missing from your server.cfg file that causes bans to be saved to file after each map change.

No, my banlist is pretty short, could you state which commands you believe may be missing exactly? Thank you for the help!

In your server.cfg file, you will want to make sure the writeid and writeip commands are in there, usually near the bottom of the file works best. One is specifically for saving Bans by Steam ID to file, while the other command is for saving IP bans to a different file.

I may have found the source of the problem. Paying close attention, I got this message at a map change.

exec banned_ip.cfg: file size larger than 1 MB!
Writing cfg/banned_user.cfg.
Writing cfg/banned_ip.cfg.

Any Ideas? I know it isn't over 1 MB, but it continues to say it is.

The OS says the file is 0 KB's when there is nothing in it, 1 KB when there is 1 ban listed inside of it. The file does exist.

How many IP bans do you normally have in that file?

So far, two steam user bans and one IP ban.

For others that read this, how did you end up resolving the problem?
