PsychoStats v2.0 Beta Released

Post by [HuN]CHuCKstA »

hello I was wondering if NFO will be switching to the new psychostats?

PsychoStats v2.0b is a complete rewrite of the original PsychoStats v1.x
code base, providing an extensible base for new game support and feature additions. New additions for this release include:

» Mysql DB support allowing near real-time stats.
» Better skill calculations including a 'decay' setting to help remove
old/stale players from the rankings.
» Advanced clan tag support allows for any common pattern in a player name to be considered a [clan].
» Advanced theme support allowing 100% customization (including logic and flow control).
» An interactive "Installation Wizard" is included that will automatically
help install the software for you.

Installing PS 2.0 is a nontrivial task merely because it uses mysql. It may be some time before we can support it.

To all renters: Do not try to install PS2. You have been warned.

Bad things happen, trust me.

Yeah. Any way we can pervent that file(install.pl) from running?

How many times did he run it? Did he beat my 4 times @ ~180% CPU usage?

Actually last night it was a renter running psychoquery. I think he had four running at a time, maybe 5, all swallowing CPU like a black hole.

It must be something related to the way the psychostats guy writes his software.

I think, way back when, the first time I ate up all the resources on the web server I was running Psychoquery also.

We will be examining this in more depth in the next week or two. Most likely all current servers will be updated to PS 2.0 automatically, but the stats URL will change to http://identifier.stats.nuclearfallout.net.

I have been eye balling the development of PS2 for a while it looks really nice. Though from my understanding it is instant so charging for stat updates every few hours might be a problem

True, that's a good point you have there. It sounds like we'll have to keep the current pricing structure and use it for ps 1.9, with a different, flat-rate stats pricing for ps 2.0.

It's a good idea for him to license it, forcing companies like us to pay for it. He can get a serious income out of it, actually. Of course in the end it means prices everywhere go up and the consumer pays.

when you pay for things, they are generally much better of a product

perhaps steam shouldve tried a low rate
