disabling punkbuster

Post by Wolftotem »

I just purchased a server from you guys and I'm unable to play on it because I'm having driver issues with Punkbuster. It's a private server I got set up so that me and some friends can play on. I have tried everything I can to fix my punk buster problems and have ran into many forums with people having the same problem. Apparently it has to do with me being on vista. I have tried everything to disable it and it still remains on kicking me from my own server.

I have tried http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =20&t=2841 but the pb_sv_disable did not work on the cfg file. Please help.

I'm a bit surprised that CoD4 wouldn't work in Vista -- I hadn't heard that before.

To disable it, I'd expect it to be these lines:

seta sv_punkbuster "0"
wait
pb_sv_disable

You may need to put them at the top of the server.cfg file for it to work.

cod4 runs fine on vista, I was talking about driver problems with punkbuster on vista. This still did not work.

For those reading this thread, the Wolftotem also emailed and I said this:
From the looks of it, PB can have issues with Vista when it is not run as Administrator, and had other bugs in prior versions as well. Have you tried running it as administrator and running the most recent standalone setup program @ http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php?

The server is actually supposed to remember whether PB was enabled or disabled when the server is started up, so it sounds like PB is glitching here: http://www.evenbalance.com/publications ... m#enabling. I think that you may have to brute-force this by turning off the server and renaming the "pb" folder to something else, which will prevent it from running PB at all.
