IP Constantly Connecting from NFOServers in Atlanta

Post by robb213 »

I just started my TS3 server, then this started happening. I know the addres is that of NFOServers in Atlanta, but what exactly is happening and how can I stop/fix this? I assumed it's a serverquery, so I added the IP to the whitelist, but it's still happening.

Code: Select all

Looks like you are just seeing server query clients. We talk about how to disable those here.

Yep guess that was it. Forgot to actually reconnect after I had done that. Thanks.

Is there a way to get the query to pass through then correctly? It's not getting through to my 'Status' page in the CP apparently.

What do you mean by pass through correctly? I wouldn't expect query clients to show on the status tab in your control panel.

On my Status page I see:
This server does not appear to be online. It could be rate-limiting or denying requests, it may just need to be started, or there may be a configuration problem such as a name that is too long.
I had assumed this error message was because of an issue with the queries, unless it's something else. The identifier is "swordfights", which I doubt is too long?

That would be a different issue. You should contact us from the "help" tab in your control panel so we can look at your server specifically.

In my experience, these clients are simply things such as Gametracker that gives TeamSpeak server logos and what not. They have to query the server every 15 minutes or so, thus those messages.

206.253.195.193 is our webserver IP address. It is just gathering information for its graphs and status pages.

In the KB article that kraze linked, we describe how to turn off the display of query connections through your client, and I recommend doing that to prevent this type of spam. It would not be a good idea to try to block queries completely. (The TS3 server already rate-limits queries, as well.)
