Ventrilo on Cogent

Post by RedneckOmega »

Howdy, I was reading your note on the Cogent bandwidth for the ventrilo servers in Seattle, WA. And I was wondering how often you experience "more frequent problems with connections to other backbones."

I don't mind the higher latencies at all, but if you could give me a rough estimate as to how much uptime these servers hosted on Cogent get? Like would I be experiencing more problems than smooth service, or vice versa?

Thanks,

Chris ( Omega* )

(I am contemplating on renting a 50 man vent server in Seattle, but I cannot afford a more expensive package, hosted elsewhere on "better" bandwidth)

Uptime is above average, there may be times they do maintenance and it drops off for a few seconds (depending on your routing and ISP). The times we have seen this occur are usually at late night. If you would like to try our test ventrilo there, connect to seattle-ventrilo.nuclearfallout.net on port 5690. It is set to the highest quality codec currently.
