Ordering a Ventrilo Server question

Post by ShuffleScape »

Hey,

I already bought a VDS like 4 months ago and I still got it (still paying for it). Now, I tried to buy a Ventrilo server and it brought me to a page where it says it sent a request that I would like to erase the other package to buy the ventrilo (my other package is VDS). But I don't wanna erase my VDS package... I want to have always my VDS and I only wanna buy a Ventrilo server with it for now..

Can anyone explain me how to buy a ventrilo without erasing? Or am I confused? Sorry, I might be
Thank you!

In ordering your Ventrilo server, you'll need to choose "This is a new server." instead of "This is a change to an existing server." If you choose the latter, it will be processed as a replacement for your current package.

Hi,

Unless you clicked the upgrade button on the payments tab of your control panel,it should not do anything.

You can also make a new change order and it will over write the existing one.

On top of this, John has corrected our system so it is not possible to completely erase server without a coupon code from us. As this is not usually what a customer is trying to do.

It wasn't mentioned, but you can't install Ventrilo on an existing VDS game server.
Apparently they prefer games and voice seperated.

You can also use the VDS order page and a change order request there to add on a new Ventrilo server: https://www.nfoservers.com/order-virtua ... server.php. Just select what you have now, then choose the add-on Ventrilo, then use the "This is a change to an existing server" option.

.=QUACK=.Major.Pain, you're thinking of "Managed Game server only" VDSes and running the Ventrilo server on the same machine, as opposed to ordering it as an add-on through the page. We aren't set up to do this, and we may not ever be, because Ventrilo servers have licensing fees that we can't easily pass through to customers who could normally created an unlimited number of servers. Our systems for running Ventrilo servers are also based around Linux, and most customers use Windows managed VDSes, so this would also require other significant changes.

Cool - We decided to go to TS3 to avoid the ventrilo licensing.
It's worked out well so far. TS3 quality is far better than the TS2 version.

TS3 is definitely an improvement, but it wasn't a jaw dropping one. Was hoping it was going to be a huge updated platform that blew Ventrilo out of the water. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Still a descent program though.

Pain, TS3 also has licensing fees for hosts, unfortunately.

I meant for the individual. TS3 is ok for the individual clan,
but ventrilo only allows I think 10 slots unless licensed.

I thought it was only 8 slots, unless they recently changed it.

For Ventrilo, 8 slots is correct without paying license fees.
