CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
Yesterday I enabled cs:go on my managed vds. Server runs great with one exception, it is not showing up in the server browser list in-game. When I check the default NFO server.cfg file I found that the sv_region command was nested into a commented field which would negate it from running. I moved the sv_region 0 command out of the commented area, restarted server and unfortunatly there was no change, the server is still not listed in the in-game browser. I have tried a few other things, sv_region 1 and 255, a complete server rebuilt, and I have added the sv_tags command, so no luck.
I have opened a support ticket, the support staff has indicated that they will not be able to look into the issue further until Wednesday when their tech returns. I am hoping someone in the community may have already faced and hopefully resolved this issue. Any feedback is appreciated.

Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
I'm not sure why anyone would have said it couldn't be handled before Wednesday -- I work every day of the week. But, this forum is probably a better place to ask, since this is a beta game that changes all the time, and we're all learning it and adapting to its changes together.
The sv_region bug is the only one that I know of which caused servers to not show up in the list for certain (others reported this on the mailing list, and Valve confirmed it on May 15th -- it may actually be fixed now).
Are any errors showing in the server log? Do you have any firewall rules defined that might be blocking it? Does "status" output show that it's connected to Steam correctly?

Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
- I assume NFO has update the server to the latest rev to avoid that bug, can you confirm it is running the latest revision? The sv_region bug is the only one that I know of which caused servers to not show up in the list for certain (others reported this on the mailing list, and Valve confirmed it on May 15th -- it may actually be fixed now).

- I have never configured any firewall settings on my managed vds, I would hope any default rules that exist would be allowing the traffic in and out as required.
- I have provided a /cp of the rcon status command below, I see the "community dedicated" message under "type" not sure if that is what confirms whether or not it is connected correctly.
] rcon status
hostname: ulstr's server
version : 1.15.1.1/11511 4939 secure
udp/ip : 216.52.148.237:27015 os(Windows) type(community dedicated)
players : 1 humans, 0 bots (32 max) (not hibernating)
# userid name uniqueid connected ping loss state rate adr

#end
- As for server logs, under csgo/logs there was nothing of importance in there.. I did find the following log input under /bin/logs. Could it be possible that it is not joining the community/server browser because I am not providing my steam login that is associated with my beta key?

Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
All servers run the latest version, yes. Valve has made them all required, so you can't even play on a server that's not running the latest.
Everything looks to be in order there as far as the output.

Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
Ok so in terms of next steps what can be done? Would you be able to try and build a csgo server on a different account and see if it registers and appears in the server browser? I would thing that I am not the only one of your customers that is having this issue.
Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
That is the sort of thing that we'll have to do to investigate your concern further, correct.
I have not yet heard other complaints of this, but it's a beta product that is known to be very buggy, which may be reducing reporting.

Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
There are mentions of the same problem on Steam forum.
Apparently the server list was taking hours to update.
It was showing the same list for a long time and then it updated.
But there are still mentions that some are not appearing in the list like yours.

@Edge100x thanks.. let me know if you have success getting a server listed.
@.=QUACK=.Major.Pain thanks.. the server has been online for two days and is still not appearing. I had a friend check to see if it appeared in his but no luck, servers current name is ulstr's server if anyone has a chance to check their browser.
Regards.

Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
In my testing today, I found that CS:GO runs normally as Administrator, but requires that Steam.dll exist in its path to run as another user (we run all our game servers as other users for security reasons). I'm rolling out the fix of placing Steam.dll into bin/ to all our managed game servers now.
This same bug existed in COD:MW3.

Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
When you say this, does that mean they have finally enabled access to the dedicated server files to those that are without access to the beta yet? Week 15 and those buggers still haven't sent me a beta invite... It'd be nice if I were able to finally start messing around with a server to get to know it well.Edge100x wrote:I'm rolling out the fix of placing Steam.dll into bin/ to all our managed game servers now.

Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
How are you hosting a server? Is there something that I'm missing? Somewhere that people are getting access to the DS files now without having to have an account with access to the beta client?ulstr_- wrote:This fixed my problem, appreciate your assistanceEdge100x wrote:In my testing today, I found that CS:GO runs normally as Administrator, but requires that Steam.dll exist in its path to run as another user (we run all our game servers as other users for security reasons). EDIT: Ahhh, nm! I see from the original post that you are running it as a managed VDS package with NFO. Kinda missed that bit.
Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
I am having this problem but on an unmanaged VDS. I'm messed around with the region to no avail, and tried to run srcds as an administrator with no luck. The server works correctly in every other way (including showing up on the favorites list).
Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
Did you manually put the steam.dll file in the appropriate place as described earlier in this thread?
Re: CS:GO server not appearing in server browser
I have copied a steam.dll file and placed it in the bin folder, but I am not sure if it is the proper steam.dll or anything like that.
