Swap file to small

Post by Jambo »

I am encountering problems with some missions crashing my server (VDS using TADST). I know that VDS is only good for small numbers which is fine my group is less then 20. I've chosen the dual core setup with an extra gig of ram (3gb) But missions like Evolution for example crash on load because the swap file is to small (currently 200mb). I can change the swap file size but what is the recommended amount for an A3 server?

Cheers

Yes, you can change Windows swap file amount to any number of your choosing. Microsoft actually has a guide on how to do so here.

As for the amount, you can select the option to let Windows manage it automatically, but you can choose your own amount if you wish. Overall, there isn't a perfect number here. Ideally, you should keep it minimal as you don't want files being swapped to disk since it increases disk usage on the machine as a whole as it much slower then ram.
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point

@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!
