What do we need?

Post by cdennis1990 »

Hello Everyone,
My name is Charles and I am an administrator on an ARMA II Island Life server. We are currently working on modifying the TCG Island Life so that we can start our own community as many others have done. We have ran into a few obstacles though with the mission files, setting up RCON and even trying to find a server that would support such a fantastic game. We previously were using Vilayer and they were absolutely horrible as far as everything went, we could not get an answer or anything from them after multiple attempts. Any how, my question boils down to what exactly do we need to do to get this server up and running so we can do the ARMA II OA Island Life Mod, have a working RCON, and be able to support multiple players? Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated from telling us what to buy and/or even how to get the RCON set up. Responses on here and on Teamspeak 3 would work. Our Teamspeak 3 address is mkg.ts3dns.com
Thanks
Charles

Not sure what requirements are needed, but you could start off with a 3-core VDS.
2 cores for the server and 1 for the mysql database.
If needed later on, your can upgrade and not lose anything.

I haven't read up on this mod, but there should be some instructions with it.
Can you post the link to where your getting it?

As for rcon, you only need Battleye installed, and enabled.
Set your Battleye password, and use whatever rcon tool you want to connect.

When you rent a VDS here, for Dayz, Life or other mods, you need to get an unmanaged VDS.

NFO only supports Arma and Operation Arrowhead games, but they currently don't support the beta versions of Operation Arrowhead. So that leaves you with all the work.

It's easiest to install Steam on the VDS and log in with your account.
You will have to go through a Steam verification as it won't recognize the new system you have installed it on.

Once Steam is installed, your can install Arma, Operation Arrowhead and OA Beta.
Then you will have all your base files in the OA folder, and you can then start adding the mod files.
