Anyone know how to update? A managed VDS to DAYZ 1.8?

Post by HEROTHOR »

Hello, I have a 1.7.7.1 server currently running with DayZCC. DayzCC has not updated to 1.8 yet, I do not believe. Would updating to 1.8 just be as simple as updating the misson/server/@dayz folders? I'm a noob when it comes to setting up the server. A friend of mine helped me set this one up on the Unmanaged VDS. Any help would be appreciated! ;)

Managed servers generally need to be updated by Nfo. However i do not think Nfo supports dayz on their managed machines, which is why a lot of the Nfo dayz servers are on unmanaged vds's with some of the bigger ones on unmanaged dedis.

You can use Dayz Commander on your VDS and download the latest version.
Then copy the @Dayz folder over into your installed server files folder.
It's best to delete the existing folder first before copying over and overwriting.

In some cases, the mission .pbo file might need updating.
You can try it without, or look for an updated .pbo

Also remember to update the version number in your server name found in the server.cfg or whatever the config file is called in your case.

So basically delete @DayZ then update using DayZ Commander it will install it back to @DayZ. Then Just put a blank mission on there? What about the dayz_server.pbo?

So basically, can I just copy a the 1.8 @DayZ - Addons - and MP Missions files? Delete > Paste?

Thanks for your help! Your always so helpful!

@dayz is replaced.
The mission .pbo should come with the package if your using like Reality.

So I delete @DayZ(1.7.7.1) and replace with @DayZ(1.8) and thats it? Install a blank 1.8 mission? Tada I have 1.8? lol seems too easy to be true. Thanks for your help.

Like I said, depending on what project your using to run the server has an update, then you will have to update that too. If no changes to the project and the mission file, then it won't require updating other files.
