Re: Just Blaze?
My Chicago server just Blazed again!
At least the past few Blazes haven't been cutting players off from their ranks/stats/unlocks.

Re: Just Blaze?
This most recent problem today seems to have been specific to certain locations and may be due to one or more NSPs having problems on the path to Blaze. I have opened a ticket with Internap and they are investigating that angle further. (They did not see a DDoS event, and neither did we -- we just saw a player decrease due to the Blaze problems.)
Edit: Further tests have suggested an on-and-off problem over Intelliquent (tinet -- the path that Rackspace is choosing to reach us) between London and Chicago. We're seeing what we can do about this.

Re: Just Blaze?
There's the problem there, Rackspace
Re: Just Blaze?
Rackspace does have its problems at times. It's where Blaze is hosted in London, so there's no getting around their involvement.
The issue was definitely with Intelliquent between London and Chicago. I cut them out entirely and I'm running further tests to see how this affects customers.

Yet another example why NFO is the best in the business.
Re: Just Blaze?
LOL You ain't lying there.. We use Rackspace at my job and needless to say we tend to have some issues with the servers we rent from them and knowing that they host the blaze servers is very disconcerting haha! But thanks for all your help in this I see this as money well spent dealing with you guys.

Just had another Blaze. *sigh*
But would be interested to see what the cancellation rate is as well.

Re: Just Blaze?
I'll also be looking into peering with the Blaze ISP in Chicago. I'm not sure if their US and UK networks are even connected, though, and it's certainly not a panacea -- it might even be more problematic than the open internet, depending on how they have it set up. But, it could be worth trying, since it would eliminate tinet from the equation, and separate out the Blaze traffic from the connection that other endpoints reach us over (isolating it from DDoS attacks).

Thanks for looking into this in detail and keeping us up to date on where the issues are isolated.Edge100x wrote:I'll also be looking into peering with the Blaze ISP in Chicago. Re: Just Blaze?
Inteliquent (tinet) had problems between London and Chicago again today, causing some player drops at this location. We are following up with Internap and asking them to continue to pursue the issue with them.
