From my tests, the idle timeout works, but if you set it, your server goes to Custom. If you use vars.preset normal, then the timeout reverts to 300. Anyone found a way to set it for higher and retain Normal status?

Anything other than 300 makes your server Custom.

Server being custom = server dead

Server as Normal without guys to seed = server dead

Overall players also dropped by about 15% week-on-week, comparing the previous Monday with yesterday. With the same large number of servers out there and fewer players, it becomes harder to fill them.

In addition to simple reduced interest as the game ages, some of the drop may have been due to the new client update that not everyone applied, and some to the Battlelog/Blaze downtime during the night that kicked all players. They had another global maintenance event this morning.

also some of the drop due to the holidays. i know most of my group is busy with family and business right now. i dont expect things to pick up until the new year.

Yep, anything other than 300 is Custom aka "BS"

When I set the Idle timeout to say 6000, and I have the Normal preset applied every five minutes, does the round that started out with the 6000 idle timeout stay like that, or does it revert back to 300?

And if so, can there be a plugin made that can do something like TimSad's Ticket Time Setter (FANTASTIC plugin), but with the idle timeout?

If you issue a normal preset command, it changes idleTimeout back to 300.

Bart, the mechanism that TimSad uses for that won't work for the idle timer, unfortunately.

I'm hopeful that DICE will fix the behavior of both the idle timer and ticket count setting soon.

We set our server over to Air Superiority to get the unlock. It stayed very full for over a week but once we got our unlocks tried to go back to Obliteration. Dead server as ranked. I have cancelled today. I would keep trying but I can't justify paying for an official server I can't admin.
