EA/DICE are ok with Knife/Pistol servers

Post by rhiker »

How would one config a server to do this?

Knives/pistols and non lethal nades would do it. A group of us were playing this way and it was a lot of fun.

Glad to see EA backing down on their silly rules and letting people have fun.

Stat padding or trading kills is bad but no reason we can't have servers that limit weapons etc.

You'll probably need ProCon and the Insane Limits plug-in.

I really doubt ea\dice are ok with weapon restrictions.

Just because they dont do anything about it does not mean it is permitted

Where did you get your source from?

Check out the new TOS from EA it appears they ripped a bunch of stuff out of it. There was a post on reddit as well.

I don't have a side by side comparison of the TOS before and after but I have read that they took out a lot of stuff from the new TOS.

It is whatever they have up now. It does look different than when I first looked at it. Google BF4 terms of service. You might find an archive of the old one.

[HERE] are the RoC for Battlefield 3. It doesn't appear there is a seperate/new RoC for Battlefield 4. I don't see any changes to those RoC from Battlefield 3 into 4...they literally appear the exact same and I remember it pretty well.

"Server Administrators may implement and enforce rules that result in minor changes to gameplay behavior or styles as long as these are clearly stated before a player starts playing on a server. These rules typically introduce minor or limited restrictions on how a certain aspect of the game can be used, but do not create or promote an environment that would allow abuse of the scoring/award system. Examples of such rules that are acceptable are:
Disallowing repeated main base camping/attacking of bases that cannot be captured.
Limiting the use of mortars to a particular region of the map."

Pistol and knifes are completely restricting the use of weapons. They say limited restriction so if that's all there is, in my opinion, it should still be forbidden. And the guy who posted is not the community manager just some moderator on battlelog.

Per Dice they are allowed, just not on official servers.

Did you see what I posted? That contradicts what they are saying on battlelog.

Restricting to pistol and knives is not soft limit. You cutting off every single weapon in the game except for 2.

These guys either need to do their homework and read the TOS or modify the TOS.

I made my comment there too.

And this is exactly why I HATE battlelog and the whole stats crap. Seriously. . enough with worry about stats. If you have something to prove start streaming, prove your worth that way and make some money, otherwise stop worrying about your e-peen.

Look at all the other games that are quite successful with allowing admins to do things like that with their servers. THAT'S WHAT MAKES PC SO MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE THAN CONSOLE! Seriously guys/gals. . if you don't want to play on those servers don't play there. It's the same thing as someone just running around playing with a pistol or a knife all the time, but this time everyone is doing it. I know someone who has been in the top of the leader boards that everyone cares so much about for knife kills and they did it all on regular servers. So it can be done without those servers, so should those people be punished then?

I think we have bigger issues to worry about, and when 2 mods said it was alright that should be the end of the discussion. We've seen EA/DICE have wrong documentation all the time. So let's stop worrying about this petty garbage and worry about actual issues.

Let people play in pistols/knives only servers if they want to and get on with your business, they aren't bothering you so let's stop bothering them.
