Forward old domain?

Hmm I have actually seen this problem before and quite frankly the search feature of phpBB is terrible especially in comparison to vBulletin or Google's ability. Try to use a google search to find stuff on your forums because it is far better obviously by trying this:

<Words you want to search for>Rules site:<Your site> (bndclan.com)

Then you get:

http://www.bndclan.com/modules.php?name ... =0&thold=0

I say embed a google search into your page for best results; phpBB's search has always just taken words out of the posts and put them as separate indexes in an SQL table, real efficient, right? Wrong.

ya but people are too dumb to just do that, that's always my main concern. Is there a way to embed a google search and have it automatically just search my site when words are typed?

Sign up for Google Adsense and then you can make money off of advertisement clicks/visits and you can use the search feature to search your website more efficiently. I am an old-fashioned HTML/CSS developer with too minimal of skills in PHP/Javascript to assist your pseudo-instant Google search idea.

I have to use adsense to get this? lol, i was gonna do adsense but i heard it aint worth it. You dont make jack.

I altered the link to the search button on my index to go to google.com domain=www.snk-klan.net or something like that. I mean it's ok, but the search sucked it didnt find hardly any posts cuz my new url hasnt been efficiently spidered into google.

Google webmasters tools and use that to make Google spider your page better so that it can work better for search. Adsense makes plenty of money; since early this year I've made plenty; I'd mention exact $ but would rather not. No it's not just a small sum of money, but enough to pay for a new mid-range gaming computer

hmmm, well how many reg users do u have? Cuz we only have like 150 right now so i would imagine we wouldnt get much. ANd btw i found a thing called "google custom search" and works well on my site, just need to spider it more

really wish there was an edit option for posts.....so i added adsense to my overall header sidebar. I assume you get more revenue the more adsense blocks you place?

Well I'll just quote this one reply and answer all questions.

As per this post, more blocks doesn't necessarily mean more money, best placement/color scheme = higher revenue. Once you read a couple articles about Adsense optimization, you will make more money. One main trick is to color scheme the ads the exact same as your website text so people are genuinely interested and utilize them. Do not EVER tell anyone to click your ads, instant removal from the system nor click them yourself; they have leniency on the second one though because they understand mistakes are made.

Google Web tools will help when you "verify" you own the domain by placing a file or so on your webserver for google to find. Then you have many more options and tools to use.

Right now we only have 66 registered users but that's mostly due in fact to the fact that when we were popular our site was "hijacked" or "stolen" by our webhost, 1and1.com. We get over 500 hits/day because I advertise for fpsbanana.com by giving free webspace/bandwidth so many users come to our site, which helps revenue.

oh man....now you're really hurting my feelings. I wanted to ad for fpsbanana, by hosting a mirror in my ftp....as i assume that is what you are talking about.

NFO unfortunately does not allow that....grrrrrr

Ya i read about not too many ads. I have one in my overall header sidebar, best place i think. One that appears at the very bottom of evvery thread, and one that appears in the gaming page specifically for games. I also have a referral for firefox in the sidebar, but that's also because i love firefox and want my users to view my page in firefox.

I am slowly coming to the realizing to affiliate with as many popular sites as popular, and link exchange...I'll have to see what i can do with fpsbanana.

No, it doesn't indicate new users nor regulars. You can check phpbb for that type of information regarding new users.
