Hamachi

I was wondering if anyone that currently has a server has tried installing Hamachi (https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi2/).

I don't know if customers have used that product specifically, but I do know that many use their VDS as a proxy/VPN successfully, and I've never heard of any problems setting one up. These machines are just like full machines from the perspective of software, so anything that would work on a normal machine should work here.

Are we allowed to install device drivers onto the VPS/VDS?

Yes, you can install pretty much anything you like (that's legal and falls within the EULA for the OS you are installing). The exact bounds are specified in our TOS, but device drivers are definitely not prohibited.
