I'm having problems getting hltv connected to the game server. I'm currently running 2 CS 1.6 servers on a single core VPS with Windows 2008 R2 OS. Here's what it looks like whenever I try to connect it to either of the game servers.
I tried connecting to both of these IPs+ports remotely and it worked for me here. Are you still experiencing the problem?
If you are still experiencing it, are you running your servers with the IP specified in the command line -- and the HLTV, too? Win2k8 is picky about this.
Yes, I just tried connecting the HLTV to the game server again but I'm still getting the same error.

Yes, IP are specified on each of the servers' command line altho I'm not sure how to do it with HLTV. I plainly run hltv by clicking on HLTV.exe. Can I run it as a service also?
Edge may need to correct me on this one, but if I remember correctly, HLTV is handled the same as HLDS. You should be able to set the IP for it, and run it as a service, the same way you did with HLDS.
so do I add -connect ip:port to the command line? I'm not sure if that will be of any help however. I tried connecting hltv from my computer to either of the game server and it connected just fine.
pardon the double post, i dont see a modify/edit button. i tried running hltv.exe as a service. here's what i have in command line: -console -port 27020 +ip 216.52.143.50 +connect 216.52.143.50:27015
When I started the service, I got this: WARNING! System::DispatchCommand: commang "ip 216.52.143.50" not registered was shown before Type 'help' for the list of commands. was echoed
and then I got the same error "Challenging...1/3"
For now, just type in the "connect 1.2.3.4" line directly, until you get it working properly. When it's working, I'd recommend putting it in the autoexec.cfg file.
That was before the I run hltv as a service. For some reason it works now, with or without the command line. I'm not sure what and how I did it but it's all good now.
here's what I put in the command line: -console -port 27020 +connect xx.xx.xx.xx
it works either way now, with or without running it as a service.
I guess we're done here. Thanks for the help you guys.
