Re: Homefront
Calm down man, its nothing but re-hashed console MP footage. Get excited when they actually record some PC footage and see what it looks like.

Re: Homefront
I dont know man, i Alpha and beta tested HomeFront. it looks exactly like that.
Ive done all that.
Even the Ariel view, looking to drop a bomb through a Heat- seeking camera.
although its not as fast paced as the video makes it out to be. but it had its fast paced moments definitely.
im still checking in hoping NFO will host it so i dont have to go somewhere else where they over load the system so bad. thats why i came here in the first place.
lets go NFO!
either way have fun

Re: Homefront
We will be hosting it. I am currently working out the initial pricing for preorders -- from what we are being told, the game will be fairly intensive on the server side, so pricing will likely need to be above many other games.
Re: Homefront
Wow, imagine that! Again, KAOS talking out both ends of their collective asses. I'm seriously beginning to have my doubts about this game!!!Edge100x wrote:We will be hosting it. "What are the server requirements?
Server requirements are actually pretty low, such that more processing power simply yields the ability to run more servers concurrently."

Re: Homefront
John-
Will putting a server on my dedi box, that I rent from you, be a violation of your current NDA? I would love to give that SSD drive a run with this game.
Just curious...still have yet to hear from KAOS or receive my own NDA. Friggin company is a joke, I swear.
If they all end up getting fired, as is rumored, I wont even be surprised.

Re: Homefront
Requirements are lower in comparison to UT3, which is probably what they were thinking of there. And it's not really all that bad -- just a bit more than some other games, like BC2. (My information on its usage also did not come from Kaos.)
I don't know yet how the game will work post-release, but we're not allowed to release the files to anyone else right now.

Re: Homefront
it may be something like;
as technology advances games, applications and programs will be developed in a fashion that will allow them to require less to run smooth.
i cant imagine with all these advancements in contemporary technology that new games will require more to run. things will look and feel just as well and better than games from the past, and will be able to run on the same hardware because its been procured to require less.
All these triple SLI/ crossFire five million dollar systems may be unnecessarily over the top. the days of Crysis type games bringing everyone's computers to their knees and burning you're hardware up is over.
but thats probably hopeful thinking.
maybe its going to be like the United States. finding and creating excuses to build, buy and manufacture more bullets, tanks, etc.
dumb down hardware increase game requirements so we keep spending money every couple years on new stuff and fuel their billion dollar industry.
point is.
i am personally hoping HomeFront wont be such a lame game. the beta seemed okay, not perfect. but BF3 is 7 or so months away.
and im thinking BF3, though it looks amazingly more advanced than anything, it probably wont require me to purchase a new anything hardware.
so lets GO new FPS
sorry for typing so much, im bored

Re: Homefront
Ummm there was no beta. It was all private. Another thing that worries me about this release.
Re: Homefront
i played Alpha testing the Game with hundreds of people which eventually updated to the beta testing phase. it last for some odd weeks and we all had to download the content through Steam. many glitches and problems were discovered and we played through some horrible issues that were eventually fixed before they closed the beta testing a couple months ago to the public.
but knowing Kaos studios, this may turn out like Frontlines: fuel of war. the first couple months will be full of crashes/ glitches and all around stupid issues that will eventually influence the majority of the players to give up on the game, so when they finally work all the bugs out and have it running at its best. no one plays it anymore.
there was a beta testing phase open to public but it didnt last very long, it was months ago and youre right in that its scary they dont have thousands off people maxing out servers 24/7 beta testing it, before the big release.
sounds fishy yes
i agree

Re: Homefront
Hey Edge, what do you mean by
can u please elaboratethe game will be fairly intensive on the server side

Re: Homefront
What John means by this is that to run a server like this is going to put more stress on our servers. Which in simple term mean they will use more CPU/Ram. Depending on the actually amount pricing for these server will vary from that.CactusJab wrote:Hey Edge, what do you mean by

@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point
@Juski> Got my new signature, thanks!
@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

Re: Homefront
I've finished adding the option to preorder Homefront now.
Re: Homefront
Thanks John.
Personally I will wait till April Fools Day, when the server files are supposed to be released to the rest of us. Still no word or NDA from Kaos, so I can only accept at this point Im screwed like the rest of the populous, till it is released properly.
I have a dedi box, I just cant bring myself to have to pay for another server when I have a box more then capable and ready to go. I am quite looking forward to seeing how fast it loads, and how well it plays off that SSD drive.
I have an FFoW server running currently, just to see what the load is like. It runs around 362 megs of RAM and 1% CPU, while sitting empty. That is a bit heavy, considering there are no players on the server. Only other server coming close is Breach, running at 385 megs of RAM and 18% CPU usage.
Those that do get the servers, please let the rest of us here know how they are working for you.
