One of my friends was VAC screwed by a friend of his who used his computer, I guess he downloaded and ran some things anyways my question to you is this:
The owner of the computer bought a new counter-strike cd and installed it updated everything etc. but it still says he's banned, he said it didn't ask him for the cdkey. Is there something special required in the uninstallation to do a completely fresh install? And does VAC run on just cdkey?
VAC question

yes and yes
it runs off the cd key, what happened is that the registry still has his cd key in file so to speak.
You could go through regedit, but thats for advanced people, if you like to fool with your registry settings.
Heres my solution: Download my program from my space, and simply use it to change cdkeys to the new one, its pretty self-explanatory.
