I'm not sure where to put this, but I've been considering purchasing the Core 1 VPS Package. I'd like to know what I could do with it first.
I'd like to be able to run at least 2 servers for the Open Source Game RedEclipse and a ventrillo server.
The Red Eclipse Sever can only be run on a windows operating systm, would Windows Sever R1/R2 x64 be able to run it? The game runs fine on Windows 7 x64.
The defualt ports for RedEclipse are 28801 and 28802 UDP. With the VPS would I have access to what ports are open?

Re: VPS and Open Source Game Red Eclipse
I'm not familiar with that game specifically, but if it runs on Win7, it should also run on Windows 2k8 R2, at minimum -- they share the same core codebase. You will be able to run it on its default ports or any other, as we don't restrict them.
Generally speaking, the only applications that can't be run on a VDS are ones that require specialized hardware, such as 3D video cards or sound cards. If yours does, you should be able to see this quickly during the free trial period.

Re: VPS and Open Source Game Red Eclipse
Ok. Thank you.
I think it will be fine then as the server is a command-line program. I just have one other question. I've read that I can run a 8-slot ventrilo server, but if I want to run a 20-slot ventrilo thats modded to play music, would I have to buy a liscense?

For a larger Ventrilo server, you would need to order separately from an authorized host (such as us). With our VDS packages, one easy way to do this would be to select the Ventrilo add-on option for your package when you order.
