I'd suggest getting cPanel Trial, then upgrade it to full license.
Installing cPanel will install Apache/PHP/MySQL/phpMyAdmin
That should be enough to get you going.

Here is a guide to install cPanel:

I'd suggest strongly going with CentOS5 for OS.

Good luck and let us know how things work out. Image

I need these in paticular

Code: Select all

ionCube loader
FastCGI
GD2
Server Side Includes
CURL
Do those get installed as well? Haven you used Webmin does it do the same installs as cpanel.

I am not familiar with Webmin.
I mainly run WHM/CPanel on my VPS.
I also run GD/FastCGI.

I believe fastcgi/gd/SSI/CURL is already part of the cPanel install.
as far as ionCube loader i'll leave that to NFo to answer.

ionCube is easy to install separately if you need to -- it's just a .so file and minor php.ini change.

I haven't experimented with either cpanel or webmin, but webmin is where I'd turn first, since it's free.

Free is always better. Image

But generally speaking cPanel has a huge user support base, I think the product is well developed, the support is outstanding.

Like John said, give the Webmin a try, if things don't work out well go for WHM/cPanel.
