Question about VDS chart

Post by .=QUACK=.Major.Pain »

I was wondering if this is normal in the attached chart.

I have noticed that when the graph begins to appear like this, it starts shutting down applications.

On a 2 core system, I run:

L4D2
minecraft
Procon
TS3
Garry's Mod (usually off and turned on when the kids want to play)

The graph on gets like this late evening and I think it's when we get 10-15 people on our TS3.

I have noticed a couple nights if our Garry's Mod was left on, the L4D2 and Garry's Mod somehow are shutdown or crash.
2 nights ago, all applications were shutdown, but the server didn't appear to crash.
Last night is of the graph attached, and it was fine and we had the 4 servers listed above running the whole time.

If you are seeing some random spikes in your usage graph and from the looks of it,that what it seems. It could be possible someone is attacking your Gmod server. Does this only happen when the Gmod server is left on?

I would give this a read, it was my first thought after reading this;

@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

It looks like you were under a small attack there, yes. What caused your applications to start shutting down was likely an OOM condition, possibly related to cache or buffers filling due to the attack. What did your dmesg output show?

Was this not a Linux VDS? From your description, it sounded like it was.

In that case, this isn't a common event, certainly. Do you see anything unusual in your system logs?
