Player Drop, over and over and over.

Post by badbadrobot »

Both of our BF3 servers in Chicago just had a Blaze drop or something. Except we keep trying to connect and it keeps kicking us back out.

Anyone else having this issue?

I've heard some scattered reports of other Blaze issues tonight but not problems to that extent. I recommend opening a support request so that we can see if your individual server or its machine is being specifically targeted with an attack.

We had to restart our servers in order for people to be able to join them. :(

The last several days have been somewhat of a problem with Blaze, I know they did maintenance couple days ago and that caused wide spread drops, but I have seen several complaints since then.

Nod, lots of problems with Blaze, and all the RSPs are talking about it and reporting the same sort of behavior.

Seems like Blaze is the main Achilles heel for Dice right now.

Yeah, I can't keep paying for a server that's constantly being emptied out because EA can't get their shit together...

TimSad, I haven't seen more than the usual number of disconnection complaints today. I recommend opening up a support request so that we can check for a (D)DoS attack against your individual server. (D)DoS attacks are getting more and more common and are one way that Blaze can lose connection to a server -- BF3 servers are easily overwhelmed by even small amounts of malicious traffic.

Okay, I'll open up a ticket next time I see strange fluctuations in player counts. Cause literally, I hop in, get it to 32, next time I check it's back down to 3. Then I keep repeat 1 or 2 more times throughout the day.

It's the sharp drop-offs that might indicate an attack or Blaze problem, more than anything. If you had several of those earlier in the day, we should be able to check the bandwidth graph for your machine and look for a correlation with potential attacks.

It was the same problem for BC2 as well. I forget what they called the BC2 backend but mostly the same kind of issues. I wish they could get this right.

That is Plasma you are thinking of, and yes, same problems for months on that game and it still has a drop once in awhile.

Just to throw our experience with our VDS hosting with NFO in Chicago, we have 3 BF3 servers and have not had any blaze disconnects (knock on wood) for the past 3 months since we came to NFO.
