domain name
where is a good place to buy a do domain name that you dont have to renew and has the rest of the stuff that keep your private stuff private?
Re: domain name
Sorry but I don't think your going to find any real domains names that don't need to be renewed. This is because every domain name has a fee with it that needs to be paid to ICANN. So anyone giving out domain names for free would still have to pay this fee.
Best I seen is free domain for the 1st year with some host. My main host used to give me 5 free domains with my plan for as long as I keep my plan. But they stop that now due to cost and trust me, you paid for the domains in the end. Not such good priced plans like here.
There are some free domain sites out there that cause ads to be opened onto your site when people go to the domain. .TK used to do this back long long ago. Don't know if they still do.
Why not just buy your domain as $12 for a .com a year at most sites is cheap. Your talking $1 a month.

Re: domain name
I think your missing what I'm trying to tell you. No need to get rude or mean. I'm trying to tell you that ICANN wants their fees paid every year by domain providers. That means I don't think you will find a buy now and never renew domain like you want. I own about 5 domains. Reason I brought up free domains as they are most likely the only domains you will find that don't need to be renewed as they pay for their selfs in ads.
I won't post any domain sites as most sites use the same standards for pricing for domains. Only time I seen domains get cheaper is when they are sold in mass numbers to a person, sold with a web plan, or discounted for longer term payments.
Other then that I believe they all follow ICANN standards and pricing charts.
Best thing for you to do is check out ICANN to find out if what you are looking for exists.

And not being nice which is being rude to someone trying to help you won't get you any help. I'm at my job now and I took the time to explain domains to you.funtime.spik330 wrote:Im not being rude im just not being nice. I read your post top to bottom and what you asked was "where you buy a domain name from and never have to renew it". From my understanding of ICANN who sets the rules for domain names, this can't be allowed unless the domain provider going to pay the fees each year after for your domain name.
Think of a domain name as a telephone number. You can't own it with out paying the fees because your telephone company got to pay the group who sets the standards for numbers. Jut like them your domain name provider has to pay ICANN. Which in turn is why renewals are set in place.
Now your last post is not to clear for me. If your saying you got a domain now that set to your old host, just change the DNS servers to NFO's and add your domain. If your asking how you get a private domain, that is a domain without your personal information. Then you will have to pay for that service from your domain provider. Which can cost more then the domain and has a renewal date on it as well.
I'm sorry if this is not the answer you want to hear but domain providers have to follow standards. I really don't think your going to find a "buy it now and own it forever" domain provider.
This is also my last post to try and help you as at my age, I don't need disrespect for trying to help someone. You will find out that people are more likely to help you if you don't give them hell for it.
Oh and did you ever get you KF mods working right as the last post I saw from you with the command line had the mods set odd for more then one mod. If not I'd look into that as you don't need to put in so many mod lines when they all go onto one. Works for my 6 KF servers.

Re: domain name
I post it 3 times because you asked where you could buy a domain name that doesn't need to be renewed. Yet you got upset with me when I answered the question and told me it not what you asked. It may not of been the answer you wanted but I didn't see any other question other then you wanted a domain name that you didn't have to renew.funtime.spik330 wrote:you just said the same thing evey post and i did not care about never renewl it was more of a question so it did not need to be posted 3 times but for the most part i got it

I'm happy to hear you got your server mods working and that it getting a good rank, longer your server around it should get better. Took me a few weeks to hit the 80's and 60's. Good to know you worked out the Mutator= into one single command instead of calling so many Mutator= for each mod. When I 1st did that with more then one mod the server used to sometimes switch off one of the Mutator mods. I don't over mod to many servers tho, friends are not into it that much.
Just remember people will help you if you ask, just don't be an *** about it. Or you could find that no one will help you. I think this topic now is a sign of that as no one else has tried to offer you their ideas.
If you like some help I be happy to try if you like as long as you can keep your cool.

That's what I get out of it.
Asked 3 times, answered 3 times.
You order a domain, your pay, and you renew when the time comes.

Re: domain name
You won't be able to find a truly free domain name anywhere unless it is ad-supported. If Godaddy includes a domain name with another service and calls it "free", then what they actually mean is that it is "included" and bundled in. You will not receive the domain free for life with such a plan; you'll only have it "free" for as long as you pay for the associated service.
The best plan would be to get a regular domain name through a registrar (godaddy, or namecheap, or one of the others), through the standard method. Then, apply it to our separately-purchased hosting here.
Whatever you go with, you're looking at a recurring fee for any .com, .net, or .org domain.

Re: domain name
You don't need to host with godaddy.
Just register the domain and setup the nameservers to point here.

Re: domain name
I use namecheap for domain leasing and direct my clients to do so as well. They provide some services that other companies will charge for (ie. whoisguard).
As for renewing, that questions has been answered plenty of times already.
As for "hosting off the NFO servers" can you clarify specifically what you mean by that (ie. managing it?) NFOservers doesn't do domain registration so you wont actually be hosting any domains from here, but you can point the nameservers of the domain you lease to NFOservers.
