Timestamp

Post by untamed316 »

I just now noticed on my managed VDS, located in Atlanta, that my logs and hlstats are showing events 1 hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time on the timestamps. I have no idea how long this has been occuring. Could the timezone on the server itself be wrong?

You may have to flip daylight savings time on/off in your application if it is one hour off. Right now we're actually in Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) and not Eastern Standard Time (EST).

When it comes to the machine hosting your VDS, Xen pulls the time when it first starts and then handles it independently of the system time. It is possible that it does not handle DST correctly, meaning that a machine that was booted before it took effect may have its time off.

You can also manually correct for this using the advanced option on the "Server control" page.
