I've set up my own email using my own domanin name, using Windows Live mail.
Everything works fine, but when I everytime I open it up, I do get an error message as follows:
<A secure connection to the server could not be established.
Your IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system.
Configuration:
Account: Demoncattribe (demoncatlord)
Server: mail.nfoservers.com
User name: demoncatlord@demoncattribe.com
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 993
Secure(SSL): 1
Code: 800ccc0e

Did I set up something wrong or is this natural?

Re: Windows Live Mail
The IMAP port is 143. If you wish to use encryption, STARTTLS is what you will need to configure. It can also be run without encryption.

Re: Windows Live Mail
What/where is STARTTLS and how do I configure it?
I also don't know where the option is to turn off encrpytion and is it still secure without encryption?

Re: Windows Live Mail
It's been so long since I switched away from Outlook Express/WLM that I'm not sure where that would be set in that program. It could be called something more generic, like just TLS or SSL.
What you're changing just affects the session between your client and the mail server; traffic between mail servers is still unencrypted. It is good to have your traffic to the mail server encrypted if you are using an unencrypted wi-fi connection or do not trust your ISP.

Re: Windows Live Mail
I actually talked with him on skype (we are friends) and walked him through adding the account through one of his webmail providers.
Outlook is not very user friendly.
