Server 5 minutes out of sync (time)?
Is it normal for VDS to be 5 minutes out of sync with time.windows.com?
Re: Server 5 minutes out of sync (time)?
Yes, it's normal for dedicated machines and VDSes to drift out of sync over time. To correct this, you could use ntpd or a cronjob for ntpdate (on Linux) or the periodic internet time synchronization feature built into the OS (Windows).
Re: Server 5 minutes out of sync (time)?
Whenever I try to sync time on my R2 VDS, it throws permission errors..
Re: Server 5 minutes out of sync (time)?
You would need to log in as an administrator to do this task.
Re: Server 5 minutes out of sync (time)?
I am logged in as administrator... that is the problem.
Re: Server 5 minutes out of sync (time)?
It definitely works out of the box under administrator for Win2k3 and Win2k8/Win2k8 R2 -- I tested it before making my last post to be absolutely certain. If it's not working for you, then you may have a group policy setting that's preventing it, or some software installed that prevents it.

Uh nope.. I give up on trying to sync time.. I'll deal with it, sadly Windows isn't a very powerful server OS yet its needed for what I need to do.
