BSOD when installing CS:GO server files
I tried twice, keeps crashing halfway through the steamcmd "app_update 740 validate"
Re: BSOD when installing CS:GO server files
This is a known issue for Win2k8 R2 running the Xen GPLPV drivers. We have some posts about it here: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =44&t=7311.
Continuing to download after the machine reboots will get you online, though it's a pain. In terms of workarounds, sometimes upgrading to a plan with more memory will work (this is especially true if you just have a single-core); switching to Windows 2003, regular Windows 2008 (non-R2), or any Linux version will also work.
I reported this to the author of the GPLPV drivers and provided specific reproduction steps. He acknowledged my concern but I have not heard anything back from him on a resolution yet.

Re: BSOD when installing CS:GO server files
Do I just keep using the command" app_update 740 validate until it is done?
Re: BSOD when installing CS:GO server files
Yes, that should work.
Re: BSOD when installing CS:GO server files
Thankfully, once I got the CS:GO beta server fully installed, I hadn't run into this problem on the updates. Hopefully with each new update I'll have the same luck.
Re: BSOD when installing CS:GO server files
So the problem I have been having is that even though it will finish the install, it is missing files. Even when I keep validating it doesn't fix it (crashes, restart it, crashes, restart it). So I can't even get the CS:GO server up and running.
I tested it by installing the server files on my home computer and the directory sizes are very different.
Is there a place I can download the server files without using the update program? I would upload my files from my home computer, but that would take way too long.

Re: BSOD when installing CS:GO server files
Has it run completely through without a crash yet? That is when you should have all the files.
Is this a single-core VDS? If so, upgrading it might be an easy thing to try. Otherwise, switching to Win2k3/Win2k8 may be the quickest fix.

No and I have a dual core. Keeps crashing during download. Either freezes the computer or BSOD. This is getting annoying, ran it at least 50x and still no luck. It just crashed again.Edge100x wrote:Has it run completely through without a crash yet? That is when you should have all the files.

Switching means I have to re-install everything again.. rather not do that. Be awesome if I had another way to get the files on the VDS.
