AA2 and AA3 Server Install

Hello All

Ok as we all know AA2 is no longer supported. Yet there are AA2 v2.8.5 servers up and running and is a internet server. I have tried to install the aa2 server but I could only get it to work in LAN server mode. If I used GLOBAL the server would revert to LAN mode because of authorization.

How do you get around the authorization issues and have a internet based AA2 and AA3 server.

The above is also happening to AA3.

I have all the files, command line and well the whole package for both AA2 and AA3 but the servers will only run in LAN mode. I just cant get it to be a internet server ( global mode ).

You have to register AA3 to get authorization.

You can register your server at no cost here:

using aahonor/aahonor for credentials.

Instructions for hosting will be sent to the email address that you provide with your registration.

As for AA2, not sure the process now that it's no longer supported by AA for honor.

If you hear on how to do AA2 let me know if you can. If I find out any info on how to do it I will update this thread so all can get the info.

Running with "lan" instead of "global" should allow it to still work, even over the internet, but clients will need to know about the server and connect to it directly.

Ok I now have a registered official server on my vds. Here is how you do it

1- goto the following url

http://www.americasarmy.com/registerserver.php

Use aahonor for username and password.

2- Once logged in fill out the boxes with the server info. You do not have to enter the hosting company info, it is optional. Once completed click the submit button at bottom.

3- You will receive a email that you must confirm. Failure to confirm this email within 48 hours and your registration attempt will be null and void. You must do the above steps all over again. Check your junk/spam mail folder if need to for the email from AACM

4- Once you confirm the email in step 3 you will get another email from AACM if your server application has been accepted. if it has the email will have the info needed for you to get a official server. The info provided will be your login info, server name and server ip. You must use what the email says to use.

-IMPORTANT NOTE: FOR WINDOWS 2003 SERVER USERS - AA3 version 3.3

Info: We are aware of an issue with Windows Server 2003 that prevents the AA3Game server from initializing steam and authenticating correctly. Please download these W2K3 files and replace the .dll’s in \America's Army 3\Binaries to allow your gameserver to properly auth.

Please goto this link and download the win2k3 server fixes. These fixes are needed to fix the authorization login and steam issues with AA3 and Win2003 server users. Placed the downloaded dll files into the Binaries folder of your AA3 game server folder, ie, aa3server/Binaries

This is a google based file holder. Once you goto the link on the top left you will see "file", click file then at bottom you will see download. Click download to download the dll fixes.

This fix should NOT be used on linux or windows server 2008. This dll file fixes is ONLY for WINDOWS SERVER 2003.

LOL - it's easy enough.

We run a Win 2008, and set it all up, and finally we could connect to the server and play, but we found, we couldn't get the server name to change, couldn't get listed on the master server list. I spent a lot of time with support trying to figure out the cause. They even were given access to all the server files but never got it fixed.

I went and ran some tests and all is good to go. I was able to change the server name to what ever I wanted. Server name change worked. Also my server is in the MBS server listing.

So far AA3 is working as it should. Now that the authorization issue is resolved with the above dll fixes server is working good.

Weird tho that you cant get your server listed and/or cant mess with the server name.

Is your working folder set to Binaries folder, ie, ( example ) aa3server/Binaries

Yep - I had the AA devs checking out the files also and nothing came of it.
No matter. We just wanted to try out the bots.
We used to be a hard core AA2 clan, but we gave AA3 about 2 years and found the forum mods and devs were rather ignorant and not willing to fix all the broken crap.
So they lost a clan of about 52-54 players to Eve Online, Dayz, Battlefield 3 and Bad Company.
