Wordpress...

Post by NJHooligans »

My current URL for my Wordpress blog is http://njhooligans.site.nfoservers.com/wordpress/, I have acquired a domain name of njhooligans.com which my main website and forums point to and work without issues however when I tried to have the wordpress directed to http://www.njhooligans.com/wordpress/ everything seemed to work fine until I tried to login either to register or the admin panel I would get a blank white screen and the address bar would never show http://www.njhooligans.com/wordpress/wp-admin but instead it would show http://www.njhooligans.com/wordpress/ but now as a blank page.

I've tried quite a few times to have it point there and ran the auto installer quite a few different way and had no success... Is there something missing here, where am I screwing up?

When you got your domain name did you go into your WP backend and change your site URL to the new one?

I attached an image of the auto installer host selection... as soon as it finishes up the installation & shows the link to go to wp-admin I click it and am greeted with a blank white page.

Looking at your website you seem to have a few things which are throwing me off. your "njhooligans.com" domain is being told to point to "http://www.njhooligans.com", that could be a piece of your issue there.

You will want to change that to "Folder" then place "public/wordpress" or wherever your wordpress install is.

Do that and see if it fixes it. If not login to your WP admin and confirm the site URL is set to "njhooligans.com".

Edit: I was in the process of testing this to see if it worked and i believe it did but you were messing with the WP installation at the time. Anyways, give it a go, it should work.

I've tried that also... I just recently had switched and input the url you mentioned to try that as a form of desperation. lol

I'm in the process of probably the tenth attempt at creating a fresh database and install. lol

I tried what you suggested and it sent me to a page telling me the wp-admin file didn't exist, cleared my cache closed my browser waited a few moments and tried again and same deal.

I can't figure this one out and no matter what I tried it won't work correctly using the domain I wanted it to work with, I'm afraid this may need file editing and that is beyond my skill level so I'll leave it as is.

Setting the URL to public/wordpress allows the site to work but your .css and images don't load. That leads me to believe your site URL in wordpress is incorrect.

Looking more in-depth and checking the URL's WP is pulling from seem to be correct. Are you able to get into your backend at all? If so can you confirm your site URL with a screenshot?

Yeah I can get into the wordpress backend when i change both the site urla nd home url to the desired url it is then inaccessible.

I've had to go into myphpadmin to change it back to my nfo server address so i can access the backend again.

You definitely have some type of configuration issue going on there. You best bet may be to do a fresh install on to the correct domain so the Site URL is set correctly.

I've attempted that a few times also, every time I choose any other url than the nfo url that was provided to me it's the same issue where it never opens the admin page.

It's not a major issue but I was just trying to keep things in uniform with the other urls.

Are you using a cache plugin with your wordpress?
Super cache maybe? If so, you have 2 lines in your config at the top you need to manually edit.

eg:

@include("/home/onestop/public_html/anchorage/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-tiniest-super-cache/wptsc-var.php");
@include("/home/onestop/public_html/anchorage/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-tiniest-super-cache/wptsc-engine.php");

I moved my site and the main cpanel account was changed. So I had to edit the config to resolve the proper location of wordpress.

Might not be exactly like your issue, but you might have something else that requires manually editing. If it's not finding the files in the proper place, you will have issue. Like the css.

You could also take a look at the configuration table for Wordpress in its database (using phpMyAdmin or another tool) and look for any references to an absolute URL there.

I'm not adding any plugins, this is all after a completely fresh install including a fresh database. I know nothing about php unfortunately & I peeked around in phpmyadmin and tried to find url references and the only url reference that I found was the one for the siteurl (thank God I have enough common sense and faith I can fix what I break LOL) which I tried messing with but just ended up with the issue stated above.

I'm poking around looking for urls again and seeing if there is something in one of the other files that is causing the css and urls to wig out.

After doing a little reading, I found a few solutions.

Try opening the functions.php in your theme folder and delete any spaces at the top and bottom of the file. Cursor at the bottom should be right after the '>'.

Save it and try accessing again.
