Using Domain With VDS

Post by tenub »

Just upgraded from a regular game server to a VDS with Win2008. I've got Apache/PHP/MySQL and my CS 1.6 server up and running flawlessly so far, but one thing I can't figure out is how to use my old domain with my new VDS. I removed the domain from my current web hosting that came with my game server and which is set to expire in a few days and added a virtualhost to my httpd.conf as such:

<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName http://www.DOMAIN.com
ServerAlias DOMAIN.com *.DOMAIN.com
DocumentRoot /htdocs
</VirtualHost>

Domain is already pointing to the nfoservers DNS (NS1/NS2).

Any help would be much appreciated!

You cannot use our DNS servers for this process. You'd need to run your own DNS servers or you should be able to use your domain providers DNS servers.
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point
@Juski> Got my new signature, thanks!
@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

Yes, the only way that you can use our name servers is if you have a webhosting account with us =\.

It would probably be better to pick up a $3/m plan here at NFO rather than run mysql/webhosting on your game server machine, as running this stuff can have negative effects on your game servers performance.
