Hmmm... guess we won't be utilizing Quickmatch then.

10-4! I think they brought the "Official" server type into the equation because of all the raging badmins out there.jaythegreat1 wrote:Hmmm... guess we won't be utilizing Quickmatch then.

For people that don't know what were talking about.
Quickmatch will only go against official servers. If you enable Official server setting. the only admin command you will have access to is !say.

Re: Battlefield 4 rcon documentation
I didn't see the email from DICE about releasing that yesterday or I would have posted it here. I'll get up a local copy and fix the link later today.
The documentation is actually wrong about most of the Official commands -- the restrictions are generally more tight than it indicates. Strangely, though, the mapcycle can still be fully modified, and PB commands work. Which means that there's an easy workaround for being unable to kick or ban people.
The control panel's "Easy setup" page will factor in all of the settings restrictions for the Ranked and Official modes, as it did for the ranked mode in previous games.

Re: Battlefield 4 rcon documentation
Don't think they can restrict PB commands for kick, ban, say otherwise any admin panel would be pointless.
Procon owner/developer was flown to I believe Sweden or somewhere close to there to sit with Dice devs on the release of BF3 so to work together an create a better admin panel in Procon. His relationship still continues for the release of BF4 for bettering the panel.
Without the ability to kick or ban by server admins, I think the community would rage against EA/Dice. Would be more harmful to them in the end.

Re: Battlefield 4 rcon documentation
I can see many not bothering with renting servers if they can't ban players on their own servers.
Re: Battlefield 4 rcon documentation
This is restricted on the official preset, there is also a ranked preset which gives you more control

Quickmatch is how we got our BF3 servers populated. If we can't get BF4 servers populated then what's the point of having them?

Re: Battlefield 4 rcon documentation
It appears they intend for Official Servers to be EA Servers or GSP servers... nothing rented by clans and communities.

To have fun? I doubt the pc community will have much problems using a server browser when so many games already do.10-78 Busterking wrote:Quickmatch is how we got our BF3 servers populated. If we can't get BF4 servers populated then what's the point of having them?
You can also run an official server on your own map rotation to gain a community, and advertise your other servers there or on your website.

Re: Battlefield 4 rcon documentation
How restricted are we talking? Honestly I just purchased a dedicated server last week, we may have to move to less servers sooner than we thought because of this. Can you please let dice know that this is going to cost you and them money in the end? Can you ask them to please include ranked servers in quick match? Honestly we have no say and it seems like nfo has direct communication with dice
Re: Battlefield 4 rcon documentation
We can provide suggestions to DICE but they have a long to-do list and many of these overall decisions are made above the heads of the people we're dealing with.
With official servers, you can change the name and show advertisements, and it seems that you can do PB-related things (ban/kick/etc through PB). It might make sense for communities to start off with an Official server to get QM players, then transition it to Ranked later on, once people get familiar with it and add it to their favorites. Or, to run one Official server and the others Ranked, with the Official used to sort of introduce people to the community, with plenty of in-game advertisements about the others.
I didn't know DICE was planning to do this, since they didn't mention it in the beta :\.

Re: Battlefield 4 rcon documentation
Speaking of advertisements, during the beta, I recall seeing some sort of Battlefield banner to the left of the loading screen. Is that something that'll be space for vars.serverBanner to come in for our servers? I also noticed that vars.serverDescription will be showing on that loading screen.
Re: Battlefield 4 rcon documentation
How difficult is it to kick/ban via PB instead of just using the !commands?
