Re: DayZ SA
The restrictions that have been placed on running servers are just for Alpha. They want to keep the variables as limited as possible while they try to work out bugs and add features. Rocket has said that server files will be released later down the road once the game matures and is stable with all intended features.
Overkill is underrated......

Re: DayZ SA
I would love to host a Dayz SA server, I currently have a 6 core vps (managed) and would happily upgrade(to accommodated the additional load) if DayZ SA was available.
Anyone know how demanding it is to run a 40 slot DayZ SA server?

Re: DayZ SA
From what I have seen happening to other servers and GSPs, they will not be releasing any server files to any single person. Which means, VDS clients will not be able to host it. I have already seen many public servers password up or kick people out except their friends to keep them safe get shutdown and the clients lost their money.
Public Hive = No Configs except for Timezone, Servername, and kicking.
It will be a long time before the server files will be out. Give it a year or two.

- SourceAdditional options for those hosting servers will be rolled out as soon as we can. We want to encourage a "hardcore" mode that will operate on a separate database, featuring things like first person only, no hide body, etc... In addition, we also want to provide passworded servers that will operate on their own shard of the database. This shard could be grouped, so that a group of passworded servers could operate on their own database. Eventually, we would like to see these different communities on their own db running their own variations of DayZ to meet specific communities needs.

Re: DayZ SA
That's a crap load of resources to ask any GSP's to tie up for 60days.
Re: DayZ SA
NFO,
If this is something that you deiced to move forward with the Merciless Bastards will purchase a server.
I have just bought the stand alone game myself and would like to create my own game environment.

Re: DayZ SA
We still haven't heard back from Rocket. I'll see what we can do about getting his attention again.
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point
@Juski> Got my new signature, thanks!
@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

He's out on holiday right now, but he definitely deserves it. He worked on this game practically non-stop until alpha got released. Hicks is still around to fill people in though as far as I've seen.Dean Hall ?@rocket2guns 3 Jan

Must be doing well for a game that he said he intended at first to be minimal and estimated under 20 dollars. Guess an extra 10 dollars or so on several hundred thousand sales would set him up for retirement.
