VPS setting up a CSS server

Hello, i have just bought one of your VPS because im interested in creating a CSS server with it. This is my first time using VPS and i was wondering if someone could help me out on setting/getting a css server up and running.

when i click on the link given to download the steam cmd it says page not found.

Normally that errror means you need to own the game to download it, but that shouldn't be the case with most games. You can try logging in using your Steam login to see if that fixes it.

i got it i was logged into my steam and i needed to me in anonymous.

ok so i have everything set up thanks to you! but know i cant connect to my server even though in the cmd it says its up. i keep trying to connect to the server with the ip but wont work.

is it because of my server.cfg? i just added it to C\servers\css\cstrike\cfg
and when i load up my cmd in it it says 'server.cfg' not present not executing

Do you have "Hide extensions for known file types" checked? If so the file might actually be server.cfg.txt but it hides the .txt.

Missing server.cfg would not cause the server to be unreachable. Use this tool to see if port 27015 is open, if not make sure srcds.exe is allowed through your firewall. http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ The server needs to be turned on for this test.

Its allowed through the firewall. but when i used the tool it said the port was closed.

The tool checks to see if your port is available from the internet(and whether or not a program is listening on that port. If it says the port is closed then something isn't working properly.

What does your command line look like?

Where would i go to see my command line? like i said this is my first time.

In the shortcut you made for the server, everything after srcds.exe is considered the command line
