Wierd video errors in Lubuntu

Post by ForrestMarkX »

I recently installed Lubuntu or more accurately lubuntu-desktop but it's having some really wierd video errors, some things seem to be in 8-bit color or something else as it's all pixelated and grey currently the cpu meter, desktop manager and desktop wallpaper do this

Here is a screenshot

Similar issues happen in FluxBox and OpenBox using LXPanel

Since I'm not familiar with that software, I don't have an immediate solution, but have you tried different resolutions and color depths?

Are you accessing the server through its own VNC server instead of using the emergency console that we provide? You should generally do that, for performance and compatibility reasons.

I do not know where to adjust the color depth the current GUI only offers to change the res, and I'm using the VNC server provided by NFOServers, the GUI appears the same when using the control panel VNC

I have fixed the issue, I added this into /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/xorg.conf

Code: Select all

Section "Screen"
   Identifier "Default Screen"
   Monitor "Configured Monitor"
   Device "Configured Video Device"
   DefaultDepth 16
EndSection

I strongly recommend starting a VNC server inside the VDS instead of using our emergency external VNC server. Related: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =46&t=4846
