I am posting this here because there is no Arma 3 section in the knowledge base.
I host an Arma 3 Wasteland server and I would like to use BEC, particularly the scheduler to make announcements prior to server restart. I have gone through all of the instructions on the BEC website and I still cannot get BEC to work.
It is a bit confusing when the very first instructions says they do not recommend installing BEC directly on the server. Well that pretty much only works if you're running the server off of your home machine. NFO already has BEC installed on the server I noticed however it doesn't really seem to do anything.
I have tried editing the Config.cfg to have my server's IP address and it still does not work. I understand that the .exe is supposed be executed when you want BEC to run, but you can't run the .exe while it is in the server. I have tried downloading the .exe and running it from my desktop, but it pops up a cmd window for less than a second and I cannot even see it. So I have no idea what it is even doing. I need help here.

Re: Arma 3 BEC on Rented Server
BEC has to run on the server where ArmA2/3 server is running.
What kind of server did you rent, VDS or single gameserver (I am a bit surprised that NFO would offer it for a gameserver, but possible of course ). As long as the info in the config file is correct and the bec.exe started with the correct parameters, it should work. Can you post your config file please?
Or try to catch me on Steam, we can go through this then.

Try to start the bec.exe with the following switch: bec.exe --dsc -f YourConfigFileName.cfg
I remember that there were a few problems with the recent versions starting correctly.

Re: Arma 3 BEC on Rented Server
When your testing it on your pc, start it up with a .bat and add the last line "pause".
This prevents the cmd box from closing unless you hit a key to shut it down.
I think if your running a rented single server, unless nfo has added the option to start BeC in the control panel, your not going to be able to start the bec.exe. Mostly for security reasons, we can't run .exe files to prevent malicious scripts running.

Ok, so then can I not use BEC features in a single game server?

Is there a Bec Start option in your control panel?
