Read the notes here: http://www.spaceengineersgame.com/dedic ... rvers.html
More specifically:
Space Engineers website wrote: Dedicated servers are currently allowed only for non-commercial use, so companies that host game servers or everyone who wants to host his server at such company will not be able to do so (this will be available very soon).
Unfortunately, that won't be possible for a while.

From their pages, it sounds like this would be a perfect candidate for running on an unmanaged VDS.

I don't mean to necro this thread but I didn't want to start a new thread to ask the same question. It appears that the dedicated server terms have been changed and there are several official commercial server hosts already.

Is there any possibility of nfo picking this up or working with the developer towards a server that would be acceptable for use on NFO's services?

Thanks.

From what i know NFO doesn't usually host games that arent complete yet, and as John said you should be able to host Space Engineers perfectly on an unmanaged VDS.

Also and i'm not sure if this is still true, just from last time i checked, Space Engineers doesn't support IP binding, and that's something NFO requires to be able to host servers for that game.

Note: In order to run a dedicated server, players don't require a licensed copy of the game. However to legally obtain the game server files, at least one Steam account needs to have a valid license.
Does this make sense to anyone? Am I just retarded?

Essentially it sounds like you have to BUY the game to host a server? That is just plain stupid. How many GSP's go out and buy games hoping to be able to host those servers?

I can't speak for everyone, but generally, we own copies of the games we host (Each of us doesn't own every game we host, but we each own many of them), simply so we can be more familiar with them and be able to provide support for them.

I guess my point is, if it is truly a stand alone dedicated server, you should not NEED to buy the game in order to host a server. Dev's lose me everytime they do this.

Yes, I'm responding to a two month old thread...

I did reach out to the developers here about their server program. Unfortunately, they have an odd set of requirements that we will be unable to meet. It is very unlikely this game will be coming to NFO.

Though, from my understanding you can still host your own server. You just can't sell them. Which makes one of our unmanaged VDS's would be a perfect fit for this game. https://www.nfoservers.com/order-virtua ... server.php
