VDS Questions - Arma 3

Post by Jambo »

Hello, I am testing a basic 2 core, 2gb ram for a small (10 players max) arma 3 server to run mainly coop missions. I know that arma 3 is demanding but in peoples experience how much ram is enough to maintain a decent coop sessions / fps ?

That depends very heavily on the mission and how long the mission/server will run.

Usually a Arma 3 server requires between 1.2 and 1.8+ GB of RAM, while this values can vary drastically with different missions and mods.

If you have only 2GB of RAM, there is not much room for the Operating System (Windows).

Yes that was my thinking as well, I'm new to virtual servers I have only ever rented a managed server in the past. Would 3/4gb be enough?

Try it with a 3 core VDS with 3 GB of RAM. If this works OK, leave it at that, if not, you can easily upgrade to a 4 core VDS, or add additional memory to the 3 core.
