How to set the rates
I read the faq on setting the rates and stuff..i always use rate 20000 cl_cmdrate 101 cl_updaterate 101 and it owns. but my question was to make my server more lag free do i have to put a server side rate system? and if so where do i put these commands
You can't do too much on the server side. These are the commands you can use to change rates/updaterates:
sv_maxupdaterate
sv_maxrate
sv_minrate
By default, the server doesn't have limits on these variables, so clients control everything from their end. Usually it's not necessary to put limits on them, although some people reduce sv_maxupdaterate so that clients can't lag themselves by choosing a far-too-high cl_updaterate (like 101) or change sv_maxrate or sv_minrate so that people don't choose bad values on their end.
