Question on server ram, E-2288G's

Post by Cataclisto »

Could a option be available, perhaps at extra monthly cost, for the dedicated server renters to upgrade ram on the E-2288G servers? The Chipsets can support up to 128GB of ram Dual-Channel ram. Would that even be possible for us to get, or something we can specifically request for the servers? (Also assuming it is possible, how much extra would it be per month?)

With the current crop of machines, we built them with 64GB, based on demand from customers and the lack of availability for higher-spec parts. For the next generation of machines, we will likely be building with 128GB.

Ah Alright then. How many months (or years?) would you say that the next generation machines could possibly be available from NFO?

That's difficult to say, as we have to wait on Intel/AMD to release them. AMD doesn't seem very focused on server processors recently, and Intel is falling a bit behind in general.
