Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
John has said it is only slightly more resource usage than BF3 (preliminary results with the limited beta)

Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
Actually just saw their site for myself.
64 slots of BF4 for $124.67.
Get a discount of $11.33 for pre-order = $113.34
That's mental.

Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
A business pricing themselves out isn't the smartest move.
If resource usage are the same as BF3 then why an increase in slot prices?
This will need to be explained imo.

Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
I guess some of you don't recall what a new BF2 ranked server cost when they first came out? What was it? Like $3-$4 per slot? I don't recall exactly, but I do remember it was incredibly expensive.

EA added a new game mode to the BF4 beta today -- Obliteration
Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
But back in BF2 days what was the fastest CPU? At release the fastest thing was a dual core xeon, with quads releasing the same month as the game. With just a dual core server, a 64 slot BF2 server likely took almost an entire physical machine to run xDTacTicToe wrote:I guess some of you don't recall what a new BF2 ranked server cost when they first came out? It's only a benefit if your going to run 2 or more servers on a VDS.guapoloko wrote:U$ 0.37 price per slot BF4. Absurd.

Single server versus a 3 core 64 slot server is pretty much equal.
I am sure the price benefits those with BF4 communities with successful servers.

Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
It is only JUST worth getting a dedicated server at this point, with the price being negligible.
for $276/m you can get a 1270(v1) with 256 BF4 slots.
$30 more per month gets you the ability to spread your servers across the country(and Europe) as well as potentially being put on faster hardware. 256 BF4 slots would probably push the 1270 to its limit.

Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
On an E3-1270v1, customers can generally run six 64-slot BF3 servers (384 slots). BF4 may be able to run around the same number, especially if DICE implements small additional optimizations. A v2 or v3 would also be a bit faster, though it's still not clear how much (the beta was short and players were spread out over so many servers from all the providers that we didn't get very good performance data beyond the first night).
Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
A server can have only a spectator and two commanders?
68 slots = 64 players = 1 spectator = 2 commanders
Power will be assigned password to access the spectator mode?

Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
You can have up to two commanders, for modes allowing commanders. You can have any number of spectators, from 0 up to the size of the server. On a 68-slot server, up to 64 of the slots can be regular players, and the rest must be spectators or commanders.
Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
Doesn't that almost directly contradict what is posted here: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =70&t=5815Edge100x wrote:On an E3-1270v1, customers can generally run six 64-slot BF3 servers (384 slots).
