Shrink my C Disk

Post by Nada »

Hello im following this guide to create a new partition on my hard disk:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/mag ... 09170.aspx
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/mag ... 09169.aspx

As recommended by my dev team to have my serverfiles in a different partition. What i wanted to know if this is a good choose and how many space do i've to leave for my OS with MSSQL, Notepad++, Filezilla, Winrar, and some Redistributable and Netframeworks installed on it?

Thanks.

What Game server are you running? i know in enterprise deployments it is recommended to partition your server files from the OS files but if your just running 1 - 2 game servers off of your machine i don't see a reason to do this. i dont think it will boost performance either.

100 GB would be plenty for the OS. It will use about 20 GB at most.

When it comes to adjusting partition sizes, if you have a VDS, I recommend using gparted (a bootable CD available through the "Server control" page).
