VDS Speed Limit?
VDS Speed Limit?
Is the upload speed on VDS's limited in any way shape or forum, bellow the port speed? I had extra bandwidth to blow, so I spun up a test and couldn't achieve above 300mbps regardless how many clients I tried to upload to concurrently. The files were thrown in a large memory cache with plenty of CPU to spare.

Re: VDS Speed Limit?
I just ran a speedtest from my VDS in Atlanta:
Code: Select all
speedtest-cli
Retrieving speedtest.net configuration...
Retrieving speedtest.net server list...
Testing from Nuclearfallout Enterprises (x.x.x.x)...
Selecting best server based on latency...
Hosted by Tulix Systems, Inc (Atlanta, GA) [0.43 km]: 2.398 ms
Testing download speed........................................
Download: 924.91 Mbit/s
Testing upload speed..................................................
Upload: 567.89 Mbit/s
Re: VDS Speed Limit?
Odd, I couldn't achieve faster than 300mbps in NYC with 500 seeder slots on transmission. 600mb ram cache and 50% CPU on 1/2 cores.

Torrents are a very poor way to test DL/UL speeds.stickz wrote:Odd, I couldn't achieve faster than 300mbps in NYC with 500 seeder slots on transmission. 600mb ram cache and 50% CPU on 1/2 cores.

Re: VDS Speed Limit?
I was achieving the same results with 150 seeder slots as 500, so it was making me wonder why.soja wrote:Torrents are a very poor way to test DL/UL speeds.stickz wrote:Odd, I couldn't achieve faster than 300mbps in NYC with 500 seeder slots on transmission. 600mb ram cache and 50% CPU on 1/2 cores.

Not enough leechers.stickz wrote:I was achieving the same results with 150 seeder slots as 500, so it was making me wonder why.soja wrote:Torrents are a very poor way to test DL/UL speeds.stickz wrote:Odd, I couldn't achieve faster than 300mbps in NYC with 500 seeder slots on transmission. 600mb ram cache and 50% CPU on 1/2 cores.

Re: VDS Speed Limit?
There was 5000+ leechers with 650 on my transmission, and an active connection to almost 500 clients.soja wrote:Not enough leechers.stickz wrote: I was achieving the same results with 150 seeder slots as 500, so it was making me wonder why.
Re: VDS Speed Limit?
They probably only downloaded part of the torrent, keeping them listed as leechers when they are actually partial seeders.stickz wrote:There was 5000+ leechers with 650 on my transmission, and an active connection to almost 500 clients.soja wrote:Not enough leechers.stickz wrote: I was achieving the same results with 150 seeder slots as 500, so it was making me wonder why.
