i got a nfo vps today and i want to turn it into a gameserver for haloce; i have all the necessary files of a haloce server (i have a normal haloce gameserver with nfo atm as well) and when i use an ftp client (cyberduck or filezilla) to connect to the server ip/user/pass it gives me this error http://prntscr.com/8k7rqt
my plan was to connect to the server (like i usually do with my gameserver) load the files on and get the server to work as a normal gameserver but i've run into this error and i'm not sure my plan will work completely. can anybody shine some light on what's the next step to take, or if it's even possible to do what i'm trying to do?

Not sure if I'm reading this right, however, you must connect to the VDS first and setup a FTP service through the remote desktop port (windows) or terminal (linux).
What OS are you running on the VDS?

You should first install the FTP software. Here's a post kraze made on how to setup a FTP server on a VDS.

am i to go into my router settings (i know how access it via 192.168.0.1) and find some sort of passive mode/port range?

To be able to use passive mode you'll have to allow outgoing connections to all ports in your firewall.
