When might I want to use a traditional SSL certificate instead of a free one?

When might I want to use a traditional SSL certificate instead of a free one?

Let's Encrypt works well for the majority of sites. A traditional full SSL certificate (available only through our 'Pro' webhosting plan) is preferable when one of the limitations to Let's Encrypt is coming into play. For instance, you should consider buying a traditional full SSL certificate if your site needs to be visible through older clients that do not support SNI, or you wish to use Extended Validation, or you need to run an unusual configuration that does not allow us to re-validate the Let's Encrypt certificate. Because our traditional SSL support also comes with a dedicated IP address, we will also set up a reverse DNS (PTR) entry for the IP address of traditional SSL websites, which can be desirable in displaying the website brand in traceroutes.

We have a separate article that describes how to enable traditional SSL support.
