I just wanted to give a special thanks to NFO and the team regarding the most recent datacenter migration in Chicago.
I thoroughly appreciate the old-school business approach that was given towards the situation by moving the machines overnight and the appropriate heads up that I was given. I was able to successfully setup a redundant MySQL server for my TF2 servers to prevent them from crashing overnight while the equipment was moved, and by the time I woke up and got to my office, my machine was back online and I was able to redirect all servers back onto my NFO VPS once again.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
You have absolutely no idea what I have been through with other hosting companies (namely Path.net/Tempest Hosting) and the absolute disaster when they moved datacenters for just about all of their locations. Little to no heads up, constant miscommunication between staff members, moving during the day sometimes during peak times, even a sudden "surprise" move that was not announced until my service was already taken down that brought down one of my locations for over 18 days. Additionally, none of these datacenter moves were just one straight shot. It was always a week or more of downtime, which is a death sentence in the community server world. I truly miss the love and care that NFO provided me over 10 years ago with my game server hosting, and while I still give my business to NFO for other purposes besides game server hosting, I will never choose another host for my web-service hosting needs just because I want to continue to support NFO any way I can, even though I am aware that there are cheaper alternatives for the services I run on this machine and it's a bit overkill to have a machine like this just to run a webserver, MySQL server, etc..
The move NFO performed was seamless and perfect. The "old-school business approach" is a dying trait amongst companies in a bleak, corporate-dominated world, where profits are put above all else. This is a very, very important thing to know about NFO is that they still indeed put forth the old-school business approach, and this has not changed since I first started being a customer of NFO all the way back in 2013. You, as the customer, are always being put first here. If you are looking to purchase a product from NFO, that is the #1 thing you absolutely have to take into consideration, as 99% of companies nowadays do not give a crap about you. NFO is that exception. Unfortunately, I needed to go with a cheap host that offered Anycasting for next-to-nothing, and at the time NFO did not offer Anycasting for very valid reasons. TF2 community servers were and still very much are in a sink-or-swim state (due to the games decline), where only the communities that had their servers Anycasted were thriving, and all other servers that didn't were all rapidly dying out. I had to make a decision quickly: adapt, or shut my doors. So, I made the difficult decision to switch. That was my reasoning for taking my game-hosting needs elsewhere, only because I really had no other choice, but I felt like that had to be clarified here in this testimonial.
Anyway, thank you NFO for your support after all these years, and please continue to be the loving company that I know all too well.
