Why can't I overwrite many of the files on my server?

Many of the files on your server are hardlinked to a base directory shared by other servers on the same machine. This architecture allows the machine's RAM to cache the data more efficiently, resulting in faster map loads and improved system performance. Because of this, these files cannot be directly edited.
Another reason certain files are locked is to stop bad actors from replacing them with malicious versions, which may run harmful software or otherwise negatively impact other servers on the same machine.
However, some base files, for some games, can still be deleted/replaced via the FTP, just make sure your server is stopped before attempting to do so.
If you believe a file should be editable, you can reach out to us at support@nfoservers.com or open a support request via the "Help!" tab in your control panel.
