Windows Firewall

Post by Sim »

We ran into a problem, our Dedicated Server for some reason when windows was installed it didn't give RDP default access like it normally does. We enabled it (use to having it enabled) but now we cannot access the box using remote desktop.

Guess that's what we get for assuming it was setup like our old dedicated servers.

We don't mess with that setting, so Microsoft must have changed the default. It's definitely something I would have recommended checking =\.

I talk about security on dedicated servers a bit more in this thread, including the recommendation that the firewall actually be skipped: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =44&t=4025

If the way you changed this setting affects how the server runs when rebooted, and you can no longer access it even after a power cycle, please email me at support@nfoservers.com so that I can order up a remote technician to fix it for you.
