How do game servers perform on virtual servers?

Virtual dedicated servers perform very close to "bare hardware" full (physical) machines, but with (potentially) fewer CPUs. Context switching between virtual machines and having to proxy the I/O and platform timers decrease the performance slightly over dedicated hardware, but for game servers running GPLPV drivers, the difference is negligible.

This means that what we say about the FPS limits here applies: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =48&t=4109.

Please do note that our normal "ultraaccelerated" game servers will be faster than both VDS machines and dedicated servers, due to our custom kernel timing (FPS stabilization) code. This code is exclusive to NFO's servers and has not been released to any other companies or individuals. In addition, a regular standalone game server here will equal or outperform one on a VDS or dedicated server, per our guarantee.
