Help with RATES

Post by sungersoo »

sv_maxrate
sv_minrate
sv_minupdaterate
sv_maxupdaterate
sys_ticrate

If I change the sys_ticrate, would I need +fps_max and -tickrate in the command line?

No matter what numbers I put, I get either choke or horrible reg.

I recommend using settings like these for a CS 1.6 server:

sv_maxrate 0
sv_minrate 30000
sv_minupdaterate 20
sv_maxupdaterate 100
sys_ticrate 0

You could also try sys_tickrate 10000 or something similarly high.

fps_max and -tickrate on the command line are not used for CS 1.6 -- those are Source-specific.

I talk more about rates and all sorts of other performance concerns here: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =25&t=3930

Do you have srcdsfpsboost.exe running? What FPS are you seeing in the server console?

Is the FPS dipping? If it's not dipping, then their complaints about reg aren't related to the performance of the hardware.

If you haven't read the performance guide section on registration, please do. It provides an explanation of what it means and what it might involve.

Some say Counter-Strike, others say Death Match. Can I change that on my own?

If its a HL1 based server, such as CS 1.6, I believe that can be changed from the liblist.gam file, though I haven't tested this myself. I would strongly recommend making a backup of the file first before making any changes, since a misconfiguration in that file can prevent the server from running.

Thank you.

I really want to set up a FTP server because my friend that codes needs to use it as well as I do. Sometimes we log each other off. I downloaded FileZilla Server but what do I put for the IP and port and password? I tried my default IP on top of remote desktop but I get the error below.

"Connecting to server...
Error, could not connect to server
Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds"

If you are running the firewall on you will need to make exceptions to allow port 21 inbound tcp. If not once you install filezilla server on the box and run the setup you should be able to connect using the filezilla client using the ip:21 of the machine.
